Can you build a fire near a plasma TV be harmful?
I have a 50 "Panasonic Plasma TV. I built a fire in my house and the chimney is probably 4 feet away from the TV. The opening is pointing away from the TV so that heat is not directly hitting the TV. I put my hand on TV after the fire had gone for about 45 minutes and there was no heat change at all. I wonder if there are any known harmful effect associated with building a fire around the plasma. Thanks for any help.
This distance should be safe. You want to avoid hanging a plasma above a fireplace, however, due to the exposure of neon and xenon gases to the heat. But if the plasma is a considerable distance away, there should be no effect effects. And just so you know ... I've been a coach for its Panasonic products online call center for almost 3 years.
